KFSN-TV/ABC30 Action News, the ABC Owned Station in Central California, has an opening for a weekend anchor/reporter who is responsible for crafting high impact content on linear and digital platforms. The candidate also sets the tone for teamwork and excellence within the station and across the station group. The anchor/reporter is an empathetic and ethical news leader who is committed to uncovering and reporting the facts, and with integrity above all else. This person must be a team player, compelling journalist, and skilled storyteller with the ability to authentically engage and connect with audiences on all platforms. Additionally, the anchor/reporter must demonstrate a full understanding of the powerful voice and responsibility journalists have when it comes to the communities they serve.
This position will anchor Saturday/Sunday, and report three days a week.
Responsibilities :
Effectively handle breaking news live on-air, without a script, both in studio and out in the field
Ability to research, set up, shoot, write and edit content on a daily basis
Contribute exceptional reporting, writing and interviewing skills
Active use of social media for promotion and news gathering
Enterprise stories and bring strong pitches to daily meetings
Foster positive relationships and develop strong contacts in the community
Collaborate with producers and managers before, during and after shows, always looking for ways to improve, evolve and innovate storytelling from the studio or field
Create unique and shareable stories for television, digital, social and streaming
Participate in community and station public events
Fill in for other anchors/reporters
Basic Qualifications :
Previous anchor experience
Know how to present active and engaging live shots
Must work well under deadline pressure
Must have schedule flexibility and ability to work holidays
Ability to shoot and edit content as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Three years of experience on the air. This is not an entry level position.
Experience with Adobe Premiere and/or Dalet One-Cut
Required Education:
A college degree or equivalent
