Position Summary:
The Recruiter works with both traditional high school students and non-traditional students to encourage enrollment in post-secondary programs at Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell. This position contacts and corresponds with prospective students through personal outreach, phone calls, written communication, and social media. The Recruiter also utilizes the CRM system to track prospective students and develop communication plans for recruitment purposes. This position reports to the Enrollment Operations Manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Recruiter may provide supervision and leadership to others in order to complete assigned tasks. This may include overseeing work-study students, temporary support staff, part-time employees, or other individuals temporarily assigned to the area of responsibility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participates in recruiting programs targeting both traditional and non-traditional students.
- Travels to high schools within the University’s service area, as well as to designated target areas in and outside of New Mexico.
- Maintains effective written and verbal communication with high school counselors, principals, and prospective students, serving as a liaison between the University and these stakeholders.
- Plans and coordinates recruitment visits with faculty and administrative personnel.
- Advises and encourages prospective high school students to complete eligibility requirements for admission to post-secondary programs at Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell.
- Creates and publishes social media content in support of Student Recruiting and Student Services activities.
- Participates in professional development activities, as requested.
- Performs office duties such as typing, filing, sorting, and verifying information; coordinates the flow of student data into the CRM system.
- Maintains a comprehensive recruitment data system to manage student inquiries, distribute recruitment materials, and track prospective students through the admissions process.
- Participates in the development and implementation of communication plans related to recruitment.
- Collaborates with the Enrollment Operations Manager to plan and implement university recruitment activities, including new student orientation events.
- Facilitates the planning and coordination of special recruitment events aimed at attracting prospective students and their families, while fostering positive community relationships.
- Represents the University at career days, college fairs, and other events hosted by area high schools and community organizations.
- Accompanies Student Services staff to high school events (financial aid nights, dual credit events, etc.), as needed.
- Coordinates marketing efforts related to recruitment in collaboration with the Enrollment Operations Manager and the Director of Institutional Development.
- Assists prospective students with the admissions process, including financial aid, scholarships, and housing information.
- Promotes the University through public speaking engagements at area high schools.
- Maintains accurate records of all recruitment activities, including travel requests, reimbursement documentation, and performance evaluations of recruitment initiatives.
- Provides support for campus tours and may lead tours for visiting students and families, as needed.
- Contributes to the development of recruitment and enrollment strategies, including input on the University Strategic Plan and ongoing enrollment management efforts.
- Serves as a member of the Professional Senate.
- Provides support for maintaining office coverage, as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Associate degree.
- Two years of experience in education, recruiting, or a related field.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, be insurable under the ENMU-Roswell policy, and, if selected, complete the required defensive driving course.
- Must be willing to travel.
Preferred: - Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Two years of experience working with post-secondary, college-age, and non-traditional students from diverse social and economic backgrounds.
- Experience with the Banner system.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Accurate data entry skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to lead and coordinate individuals during recruitment events.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with students, including those facing challenges.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Working Conditions
- Work is typically performed during regular business hours, with occasional evening and weekend hours required.
- The position is primarily sedentary, but may occasionally require exerting up to 25 pounds of force. It may also involve frequent or constant exertion of a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Insurance
Insurance for Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell is offered through the New Mexico Public Schools Insurance Authority. High coverage and low coverage options are offered for medical and dental insurance so employees can choose the plan that's right for them.
- Health insurance is offered through both Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico and the Presbyterian Health Plan
- Dental insurance is offered through United Concordia.
- Vision insurance is offered through Davis Vision.
- Life insurance is offered through Standard Life Insurance Company and UNUM Life Insurance Company.
Retirement Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell participates with the New Mexico Educational Retirement Board (NMERB), Social Security, and Medicare.
The University also offers supplemental retirement plans. 403b plans are available through TIAA/CREF, AIG VALIC, and MetLife. 475b plans are offered through TIAA/CREF.
Paid Time Off Leave accrual rates are determined by employee class (At-Will/Professional & Faculty - exempt or Support – non-exempt) and years of employment. See below for specific accruals for each employee class.
As per policies and procedures Adjuncts and Temporary employees are not eligible to accrue leave. Faculty Paid Time Off - Medical leave is accrued 48 hours in the Fall and 48 hours in the Spring.
- Personal Leave - Five personal work days each academic year and two work days during the summer. Only regular faculty will be eligible for personal leave. Personal leave will not accumulate from academic year to academic year.
Support Paid Time Off - During the first year of service, full time non-exempt (hourly) employees accrue 7 hours of annual leave and 7 hours of medical leav e per month.
- The second year of service, full time non-exempt employees accrue 10 hours of annual leave and 10 hours of medical leave per month.
- The third and subsequent years of service, full time non-exempt employees accrue 14.66 hours of annual leav e and 14 hours of medical leave per month.
- Employees must work for the University for three months before they are eligible to use annual leave.
- Leave accruals will be pro-rated for part time employees.
Professional/ At-will Paid Time Off - Full time exempt employees accrue 14.66 hours of annual leave and 14 hours of medical leave per month.

Employee Educational Assistance Plan Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell offers a tuition waiver for permanent, full-time and part-time regular employees and retirees. Employees can take up to 9 credit hours on the Roswell campus. Their IRS dependents are not restricted in the number of credit hours they can take. For classes offered by ENMU in Portales, the Portales campus will waive some tuition for either the employee or spouse, dependents, as defined by the I.R.S., are not eligible for tuition waivers for classes taken through the Portales campus.
Additional course fees will still need to be paid by the employee. As per policies and procedures Adjuncts and Temporary employees are not eligible to recieve the tutiion wavier.
